Machine Operative
£12.50ph + benefits (permanent role)
Bradford
Days Only (Mon-Thursday)
gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a Machine Operative to work at their facility based near Bradford.
Performance Objectives
- Working within a team environment to achieve Safety, quality, cost, delivery, and performance of extruded product to the customer On Time In Full (OTIF).
- Engage with Start of Shift Communication briefs (Human Performance & SQCDP)
- Give feedback on previous days performance and suggest / make improvements.
- Highlight any issues/concerns for the day ahead.
- Support
- Start of shift startup Checks / Procedures (after training).
- Engage with Operator Preventative Maintenance.
- Engage fully with 5S throughout the day.
- Using hand tools: Hand Grinders/Linishers/Files/ Hand Press
- Both Visual and physical inspection for quality and recording respective data to ensure product quality and integrity.
- Operation of an overhead crane after training to move materials.
- Operation of various mechanical saws. Quality checks, deburring
- Operating bar straightening machines to ensure straightness of product using feeler gauges to confirm straightness/flatness.
- Completing documentation confirming completion of task / quantity / weight etc
- Data entry recording operation completion.
- Must have attention to detail via reading written instructions or from verbal communication.
- Must have drive to achieve hourly/daily targets without being monitored.
- Worked in a metal processing environment (steelworks, forge, foundry)
- Experience in a hot metal environment would be an advantage.
- Experience of manual handling of metal components
- Experience of using hand tools, finishing machinery
- Overhead crane experience preferred, but not necessary as training will be given.
- Working in a team in busy metal processing environment you will carry out a variety of physical tasks including but not limited to:
Operate after training:
- Various mechanical saws.
- Robotic handling arm
- Lathe / Milling machine
- Extrusion Press
- Stretching / straightening machine
- Shot Blasting
- Chemical Cleaning process
- Hand Pressing/Straightening
- Cold Draw machine
- Visual Inspection
- Grinding
- Overhead Cranes
