Position overview:

Optimas is currently searching for an experienced and energetic

Warehouse Team Leader for our site in Gloucester.


Principle Activities:


  • Understand, develop and promote the Company's business objectives and participate with total enthusiasm and commitment to achieve and exceed them.
  • Agree with Line Management appropriate measures (Key Performance Indicators)
  • Ensure that you fully understand your work requirements and duties and have received the correct supervised training in accordance with the Company's training requirements to enable you to undertake your duties.

Main responsibilities:


  • Oversee the day to day operations and performance of the function under supervision;
  • Ensure 'best practice' is maintained throughout the Warehouse;
  • Support training and development activities within the warehouse environment
  • Monitor activities and promote continuous improvement in working practices across the warehouse;
  • Act as first point of escalation for queries from Operatives and Drivers;
  • Promote best practice and innovation through regular communications with other Warehouse Team Leader and through escalation to Warehouse Supervisor as appropriate;
  • Encourage and motivate warehouse operatives through teamworking and team meetings;
  • Clear all daily work instructions / requirements to exceed our customer's service expectations;
  • Fully understand your work requirements and duties and ensure you have received the correct supervised training in accordance with the Company's training procedures, to enable you to undertake your duties in a confident and professional manner;
  • Report any nonconforming actions and where applicable, provide support and assistance to correct;
  • Operators' license compliance (tachographs /vehicle checks);
  • Ensure PI's are maintained against agreed plan;
  • Oversee Induction training for new job holders within your team.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • **Previous experience working within a Warehouse is essential**, ideally a distribution centre
  • Fork Lift License / Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) training preferred
  • Ability to work at height
  • Strong communication skills
  • Supervisory experience essential
  • Ability to prioritise and to work to deadlines with good time management skills
  • Results focused aptitude to work with speed and accuracy, attention to detail is important
  • A flexible, friendly approach with a team focus and cando attitude
  • Customer service focus
  • Decision Making, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Manual Handling regularly lifting up to 20kg
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills to be flexible across all warehousing duties
  • Flexible approach to work patterns as department operates on three shift pattern (AM/PM).


This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Team Leader with Warehousing skills to join a supportive team working within a friendly and busy environment.

There will be opportunity to take on extra responsibilities to support the Warehouse Manager and build relationships with staff from many different departments in the company.
