Description

Key Purpose:


  • Support the Rex Cinema Manager in the operation of the Cinema to provide a quality cultural experience to all sectors of the community, that is safe, legally compliant, financially sound, tidy, and efficiently run.

1. Technical duties

  • Source and ingest digital features, KDMs, trailers and advertising content
  • Compile and test playlists
  • Ensure BBFC Certificates are displayed prior to the screening of each film
  • Record event cinema from satellite transmissions and test playback is satisfactory
  • Liaise with Omnex technical support, Admit One ticketing and other hardware and software providers to ensure smooth operation of the cinema systems
  • Support the Rex Cinema Manager in the staging of live and special events including lighting and sound systems when required
  • Cover projectionist shift duties when required

2. Administrative duties

  • Ensure that films and events are accurately uploaded onto the Rex Cinema website and App and check that the correct information is on display on a regular basis
  • Source and order posters, record receipt and ensure that they are displayed at the appropriate time
  • Open post on a daily basis and deal with straight forward correspondence as appropriate
  • Ensure that digital filing is undertaken regularly using Outlook and Dropbox
  • Schedule, monitor and manage the When I Work volunteer staff rota to ensure cover of all shifts
  • Maintain the records of Friends of the Rex, check payments are received and assist at special Friends events as required
  • Send a copy of the monthly film attendance sheet to the Chair of the Trustees at the end of each month
  • Maintain a current contact list of staff and volunteers for display in the Box Office

3. Health and Safety

  • Ensure that the premises are always in a neat and tidy condition and that areas are clear of rubbish and material at risk of fire
  • Ensure public areas and fire exits are clear of obstructions and are not slippery.
  • Carry out minor maintenance tasks including checking seats and armrests regularly
  • Carry out weekly testing of the fire alarm system and assist in training of volunteers in accordance with the Fire Safety Procedures
  • Ensure that all electrical equipment is regularly tested and always has an uptodate PAT certificate
  • Occasional cleaning when required

4. Finances

  • Pay routine invoices and liaise with the accountant regarding invoice raising and providing evidence for monthly accounts
  • Bank cash and cheques from Box/Bar takings, donations, and memberships
  • Acknowledge receipt of donations and send thank you letters where appropriate, record donations received and move funds to the Cinema Improvement Fund account
  • Maintain a system of stock control of the bar, sweets and ices, ordering sweets and ices where required and ancillary items as required
  • Maintain the system for monitoring on a monthly basis water, gas and electricity consumption
  • Issue ticket voucher to local charities and community events when requested

Knowledge and Skills:


Essential

  • Excellent computer literacy and experience of Microsoft Office Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to anticipate issues, solve problems and deal with them with calmly
  • Good numeracy skills
  • Accurate, thorough and methodical
  • Willingness to work flexibly as part of a small team
  • An understanding of the importance of and good practise in Health and Safety

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • An understanding of digital cinema systems (on the job training will be provided)
  • An interest in film and cinema
  • Good customer care skills

£21,000.00-£22,500.00 per year
