Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is a highly performing local authority looking for a full time Finance Assistant to help ensure the accurate and timely processing of its finance functions.


An excellent opportunity has arisen to work in a small team and cover all aspects of the Finance Assistant role.

You will be dealing with cashiering, processing of invoices, recovering temporary accommodation rents and housing loans. You must be prepared to become multi-skilled which makes the role varied and interesting.

We are always looking for ways of improving our services and you will be expected to suggest ways of enhancing the processes and procedures you carry out and to implement change.


You will have to use many different financial systems and as such we require the individual to be highly computer literate.

You should feel confident in using Microsoft products (word, excel, outlook) and learning new accounting systems. You will need to feel confident using a variety of communication methods to liaise with internal and external customers.

The post requires great attention to detail and accuracy, together with good communication and interpersonal skills. It is also necessary to be able to work with colleagues in order to achieve strict deadlines. We are looking for a team player with a positive attitude, who is willing to rise to a challenge.
