A team leader is required for a locality social work team in Stockport Family, covering the area of Offerton, Great Moor and Hazel Grove.

This is a job share opportunity, with working hours 22.5 per week and days of work Wednesday to Friday.

You will supervise a team of social workers, which includes 2 senior practitioners and 6FTE social workers.

You will offer line management to half of the team, offering supervision every 4 weeks and providing opportunities for learning, reflection and development.

You will manage duty for your team, allocating children and families to social workers and ensuring that safeguarding responses are timely and follow statutory guidelines.

You will promote excellent relationships, good quality social work and motivate theteam to perform well and achieve good outcomes.


We are looking for someone who is passionate about relational practice and leadership, and with extensive experience of working with children and families within a statutory social work role.


In Stockport Family, we minimise transitions for children and families and want a model of practice where one social worker builds a relationship with a family and stays with them.

Therefore, you will need an understanding of the breadth of social work practicefrom duty and assessment, through to legal proceedings.


There will be lots of support on offer - development and training opportunities, and a Relational Leadership group that you will be part of with other Team Leaders to build relationships and receive support.
