Description

To assist in the delivery of an effective education programme for visitors to Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, including research specific to the role of Learning Leader.


Main Responsibilities:


Communication

  • Face to face communication with visitors (family groups, school children, adults and specialist groups) in order to provide an education programme at the Gardens and off site (rarely).
  • Internal team liaison to discuss and plan activities.
  • External liaison with teachers, volunteers, other depts. etc. to plan activities.

Planning

  • Working within the scope of the overall framework to assist planning of a programme of formal and informal activities such as school visits, holiday activities, events, and birthday parties for delivery to local schools, family groups and visitors.

Organisation

  • Identify, prep and use appropriate resources to deliver high quality sessions to schools, families and volunteers.
  • Organise, and where appropriate lead, school visit activities and events at the Gardens.

Research

  • Research into events, workshops and activities.
  • Maintain an awareness of core curricula and trends in education.

Key Decisions

  • Post holders to work closely with Education Officer, day to day liaison exists.
  • First point of contact with visitors, dealing with questions and queries concerning site activities.
  • Assisting with session planning
  • Coordinating of movement of groups for programme of activities to visiting schools.
  • Determine how to manage own time effectively and prioritise work accordingly.

Main Contacts

  • Visitors including family groups, adults, school children and teachers, providing direct service to public/schools.
  • Teachers during previsits.
  • Line manager, Director, and colleagues and colleagues at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens to discuss and plan activities in order to provide a highquality visitor experience.

Context

  • Face to face contact with large numbers of visitors, having to constantly provide a highquality experience and positive profile can be quite demanding and potentially stressful.

Corporate and statutory initiatives - equalities/health and safety/e­government/sustainability

  • To be responsible for own, volunteers and visitor's health and safety as part of the overall team at the Gardens.

Safeguarding

  • The post holder is responsible for ensuring that all Hampshire County Council child and adult protection polices are adhered to and concerns are raised in accordance with these policies.

  • A Criminal Records Check at Enhanced level is required for this role.
