Westwood recruitment have a really exciting opportunity to become a production operative for a fantastic company based in Mobberley.


Position Summary


As a production operative you will be expected to operate at least 6 key converting machines, converting photographic product and metal into various formats, either straight to the customer or subsequent conversion into other formats.

You will carry out the lead role and take responsibility for daily output of line and up to 7 staff as the production operative


Main Responsibilities

  • Interpret and complete all cutting documentation and plan the days cutting order.
  • Safely set up machines following defined procedures and quality standards.
  • Select all relevant materials, parent rolls, chemicals and metal, load and run machines.
  • Follow a defined sampling schedule and deliver Samples to QC for testing or carry out own QC checks on product as required by procedure.
  • Remove identified faults in the roll as instructed by M14 QC on the A ticket, unidentified faults as instructed by Paper QC and any defects found throughout run. Identify and give clear instructions to Universal Packing Machine Operator to remove any bad channels
  • Monitor quality throughout, independently react to failures and rectify faults as they occur.
  • Follow a specified work schedule to ensure due date conformance, alter pattern and cutting order so as best fit is achieved to reduce set up and down time.
  • Contribute to problem solving relating to unplanned failure of materials, process, machinery or product to minimise waste and process failure. Assist Tech Group with set up of new products by offering ideas and possible solutions.
  • Carry out aspects of the CLO/PLO role when required.
  • Follow a defined maintenance schedule; prepare machine and handover to engineers.
    Follow a defined dark room procedures when using white light keys.
  • Clean down Roll Film Wrapper machine at end of shift following strict health, safety and environmental procedures. Store, label and discard all chemicals safely.

Able to make decisions and use own initiative and judgement to take appropriate action.

Demonstrate physical and manual dexterity, and attention to detail - measuring to 1mm.

At least 6 months proven experience of working with machinery.

Effective communication skills, written, verbal and non-verbal ensuring clear concise instructions and information are passed to the team.

Able to adopt a flexible approach to company requests within your level of responsibility, skills, training and knowledge.

Able to work in various lighting conditions from complete darkness through to white light conditions. This includes the set up of complex machinery in complete darkness with visual aids.
