Do you want a key role in improving health for Isle of Wight residents?


We are seeking a Public Health Principal to join our dynamic and friendly Public Health team for a two-year fixed term period.

Advance your career in public in a supportive, friendly team working across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. We are passionate about using evidence-based approaches to improve population health and wellbeing through positive behaviour change.


You will need to demonstrate a proven track record of improving Public Health outcomes which will enable you to provide leadership support to the development and implementation of a refreshed Public Health strategy, including the key themes of healthy lives, healthy places, settings and communities and healthy people.

You will design and deliver projects and commission services that ensure excellent standards and work with partners to influence the wider determinants of health.


You will work with specialists in Public Health including Consultants, Principals and Practitioners as well as with other internal and external partners.


As a dedicated professional in your field in your field you will help us to be innovative, ensuring we keep up to date with best practice.

We are looking for the following skills and attributes
:


  • Knowledge of the latest developments in Public Health
  • Ability to adapt to working in a variety of specialist areas where needed.
  • Experience of leading transformation and improvement
  • Ability to communicate complex information in meaningful ways to lead, inspire and engage partners.
  • A proven track record of successfully commissioning public health services.

You will need to be;
- a postgraduate in either Public Health or a related discipline (e.g., a UK Master's degree or postgraduate diploma)
- experienced within a Public Health Practitioner role
- a registered Public Health practitioner with the UKPHR (or equivalent).

PLEASE NOTE: As a council we support agile and hybrid working. There will be a need to work on the Island to build relationships with partners and to attend face to face meetings on the Isle of Wight and in Winchester. We support flexible working where possible.
