There is a keen ambition to continue to grow the contentious arm of the team in a 1-3 year period and the successful construction lawyer is intended to be a key player in achieving that growth, with responsibility for business development, growth, and recruitmentand development of the team.


Key responsibilities & Specifications Construction Lawyer


You will be offered the scope and autonomy to further develop and build the contentious construction work stream along with running your own caseload of matters.


The successful applicant will develop and grow their career and personal skills in a supportive and collaborative environment which values entrepreneurship, providing excellent legal services.

You will be responsible for acting for a wide and varied ranges of clients, developing and growing relationships.


You will play a key role in the department with opportunity to work with other partners to shape a progressive construction practice for an outstanding law firm.

You will work closely with members of various teams and advise on a mix of disputes at pre-action stage and in adjudication, arbitration, mediation and court proceedings


Examples of work include:
- advice in respect of payment/defects/delay claims, termination and insolvency to a range of clients such as developers, housebuilders, contractors, sub-contractors, consultants, and employers in the mainly commercial context.
- advising on a £35m product liability claim.
- advising a household name construction product supplier on defective materials.
- a negligence claim in relation to a storm drain caisson.
- consultant negligence; breach of warranty claims in addition to the usual payment/delay and defects claims.

  • You will need to be selfmotivated and focused individual with a keen intellect and commercial mindset.
  • Confident to work autonomously.
  • A desire and understanding how to develop a team.
  • A client focussed approach and committed to forging long term relationships working collaboratively with client teams.
  • Management of client needs to ensure consistent and responsive client service levels.
  • A proven ability to develop strong professional connections. You will have a track record of winning work and business development.
  • You will have excellent time management skills with an ability to prioritise.
