Main purpose of the Administrator role:
You will work closely with colleagues providing professional support to ensure the effective management of the very varied flow of work.
You will also maintain effective communications with members and volunteers and provide a 'front office' service for external contacts.You will advance our clients strategic priorities, by:
- Providing administrative support to the association
- Working with colleagues to support meetings or events
- Providing office support and working with senior colleagues to ensure our financial and office records are maintained
As our
Administrator you will report to the Finance and Governance Manager but you will work across the office team.
Our clients office and Benefits:
Our client has a small central office, designed to manage the day-to-day business of the Association.
Its work is overseen by a Chief Executive appointed by Council, who is responsible for, and has oversight of, all functions and activities.

We are in the process of enhancing all our terms and conditions and the post holder will be invited to transfer into these once finalised.

Our clients roles are rated against a competency framework which can be found alongside the details for this role. There are 4 primary grades within our structure with 4 being the most senior. This role is a Grade 1.
As the Administrator you will need the following skills and experience:
- Proven administrative skills with the ability to develop and maintain an overview of a complex workload
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent IT skills and computer literacy and familiarity with the Microsoft suite of software
- Highly numerate with experience of financial administration
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to deal sensitively and discretely with confidential information
- Proven experience of managing complex processes and taking a proactive approach
- Ability to maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of people
- Excellent record keeping skills
The following skills and experience are also desirable:
- Experience of governance support including drafting papers/reports and taking minutes for meetings
- Experience of maintaining websites, and of using related technologies (we use WordPress)
- Attention to detail and experience of managing a database or CRM system
- Experience in office administration including diary management, travel arrangements and meeting preparation
- Experience of working for a membership organisation/charity
- An understanding of the higher education or research environment
