Description
Ward 23 is a busy trauma and orthopaedic ward caring for patients pre and post operatively.

As the housekeeper you are a vital part of the team; you will be responsible for the co-ordination of patient facility services and ensure the delivery of cleaning, catering and ancillary services for patients, to monitor the quality standards, reporting deficiencies and appropriate actions to the Senior Nurse.

The post-holder will work as part of the team carrying out tasks as specified by the Nurse in Charge.

Cleaning


To assist in the monitoring and maintaining of cleaning standards on the ward including the maintenance of the cleaning logs.

To ensure equipment such as drip stands, commodes and trolleys are cleaned as per policy.

To ensure the ward is safe and tidy by removing clutter and keeping noticeboards tidy.


To maintain patient bed areas, keeping the bed tables and lockers clean and ensuring that oxygen masks and tubing are adequately supplied.

To ensure cleanliness of the sluice area.

To arrange any specialist cleaning of furnishings or surfaces.

To ensure that the staff room is clean and the appliances are maintained appropriately.

Catering

To participate in the mealtime process, assisting patients where required.

To prepare drinks and hot snacks i.e. toast for patients as requested taking into account individual patients requirements.

To complete food intake and fluid balance charts as requested.

To ensure refrigerated food is labelled and stored correctly.

To liaise with the domestic team to ensure that fresh water is available for patients
