We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic team player who can provide exceptional clinical leadership to replace a colleague who is retiring.

The successful applicant should have an interest in developing students and trainees through supervision and teaching and it would be advantageous to have a keen interest in development of the service and Quality Improvement.


This is a 10-session community post based at Springpark Resource Centre in North East Glasgow, with in-patients at Stobhill Hospital.

There is a well-developed multi disciplinary team and good administrative support. The resource centre has 3.6 wte consultant psychiatrists as well as an experienced specialty doctor. GP, Foundation, Core and Higher Trainees are attached on rotation. The post would involve responsibility for the community and in-patient management of patients from the Springpark catchment area. Each consultant manages their own in-patients. There is close contact with the other Psychiatric Consultants in the North East Division.


The post-holder will have, or will achieve, Approved Medical Practitioner status in accordance with the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003.

All newly qualified Consultants are initially offered a minimum of 1 Core Supporting Professional Activity (SPA) which includes CPD, audit, clinical governance, appraisal, revalidation, job planning and management meetings.

This will be reviewed within 6 months (or earlier if required) of appointment and revised upwards if additional responsibilities are agreed.
