JOB DESCRIPTION

Post:
Fundraising Officer


Hours: 37 hours per week (taking the needs of the organisation into account occasional evenings and weekends may be required)

Location:
Hybrid options including both home and office (Sycamore Centre, 33a Hungerhill Rd, Nottingham, NG3 4NB)


Salary:
£27,200 p.a


Contract:
Fixed term for 12 months with an extension dependent on meeting targets

JOB SUMMARY:


Nottingham & Nottinghamshire Refugee Forum (NNRF) is a vibrant local charity, working with and for asylum seekers and refugees in the area.

With 50 staff and over 100 volunteers we operate a busy centre in Nottingham, providing advice, advocacy and practical support.

We also run a number of social and educational activities, including a youth club, women's group, ESOL classes and an employability service.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to become our new fundraiser.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who relishes a challenge and wants to make a difference in their local community.

This varied role will involve maximising income from various sources, identifying new opportunities, managing relationships, and using a variety of communication channels to promote the work of the Charity.


MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Income generation

  • Take the lead on developing, implementing and monitoring a fundraising strategy that includes a variety of income streams, including community fundraising, individual giving, companies and legacies
  • Research and acton opportunities to generate income from both current and new initiatives and engage with potential new donors
  • Recruit and manage the Charity's fundraising volunteers to enable them to effectively support the delivery of NNRF's strategic and operational fundraising plans
  • When requested work alongside the existing grant writing team, providing input, assisting in the maximisation of their effectiveness
  • Draw up and deliver a calendar of fundraising events and campaigns
  • Prepare and monitor an agreed budget and provide accurate and timely information for reforecasting purposes
  • Ensure adherence to all fundraising and information security legislation and promote good practice at all times

Stewardship and Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with past and current supporters to maximise their fundraising potential
  • Provide stewardship to all supporters, ensuring that donors and volunteers are appropriately thanked
  • Promote the work of NNRF through talks, networking events and at meetings with potential donors
  • Update donors on the impact of their support, by sourcing inspiring case studies and collating uptodate information
  • Maintain a database of members and supporters and keep accurate records of donor activity
  • Assist with the production of ecommunications and newsletters
  • Write and post relevant and engaging content for the charity's website, social media sites, and other publicity materials

Organisational Responsibilities

  • To be a NNRF ambassador by upholding and demonstrating the organisational values and behaviours at every opportunity, through verbal, written and face to face communication
  • Work collaboratively with other staff and departments to help prepare and set up events e.g. Refugee Week, Conferences and AGMs
  • Participate in own supervision and appraisal process and attend staff and team meetings
  • The postholder will be required to undergo a basic DBS check for this position
