Finance Manager (Fixed Term Maternity Cover)

We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Manager to provide critical support to our Finance Director and contribute to the overall success of our business. Our finance team plays a pivotal role in informing our commercial decisions and driving our continued success.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced accountant to join our front-line operational function, where your work will have a visible impact on our people and business. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and are motivated by delivering high-quality results, we encourage you to apply.

In this key role, you will report to our Finance Director and be responsible for ensuring that our Finance team is fully resourced and well-directed. This will involve providing clear guidelines to their job responsibilities, communicating effectively, and supporting their training and development needs.

You will also be expected to:

    • Provide cover to the Finance Director in their absence and ensure the efficient and smooth running of the department.
    • Assist with accurate and robust monthly forecasting and preparation of our Divisional three/five-year business plan in line with Regional/Group requirements.
    • Participate in surveying/valuation meetings and provide appropriate levels of challenge.
    • Assist with financial management and reporting as required.
    • Support payment and payroll processing using our Group systems.
    • Identify and resolve issues that have a significant impact on our Division.
    • Ensure that our Division systems reflect the latest information, including completions forecasts that reflect our latest build programme/sales status.
    • Adhere to the Group Accounts Manual regarding cash management and operate within our cash budgets.
    • Assist with reporting to our MD and Divisional Board in line with standard formats and schedules, including preparing Finance Board reports and Divisional presentations.
    • Complete ad-hoc divisional and out-of-department projects as necessary.

To succeed in this role, you will need to possess:

    • A professional accounting qualification and considerable post-qualification experience in a senior commercial accounting role, preferably within the house-building sector.
    • The ability to motivate and lead a team to achieve goals, with drive and tenacity to deliver results.
    • The skill to provide constructive challenge and ensure all financial controls are maintained.
    • High-level numeracy skills, strong IT and financial analysis skills, and the ability to interpret data and assess impacts on our business.
    • Experience in managing budgets and cost control, and planning and organising work to meet targets.
    • A willingness to contribute professionally to the overall management of our business.
    • Self-confidence, decisiveness, resilience, and the ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

We offer a competitive remuneration package, including:

    • A bonus scheme.
    • Private medical cover.
    • Annual health assessments.
    • 26 days' holiday per year (increased by one day for every three years' continuous service up to 29 days).
