The David Ross Education Trust is now recruiting for a Data & Exams Officer who will join our wonderful team based at Malcolm Arnold Academy in Northampton.

Becoming part of the MAA family while also having the wealth of support from the central IT & Data Team, we want someone to join us who will be vocal, challenge our thinking and ensure the exams processes and procedures are well run and managed.


_ About the role_


This is a key role to provide specific data and administrative functions for the academy under the direction or instruction of senior staff.

One of the great goals for anyone working in Education is improving children's outcomes.

Nothing sums this up more than the exciting day each August when students have put their all into their studies and wanted to show their very best during their examinations.

Collecting those results in August is a collective effort involving everyone in the academy, the students and their families and friends.


You will want to be able to notice everything our students do well and celebrate them, acknowledging with them their achievements using warm language to make them feel excellent and to make them feel seen.

We are looking for someone who is passionate and has a clear professional drive to improve the outcomes and life chances of each and every student they work alongside.

Someone who can stand proud on each and every results day knowing they have been a critical and fundamental part of hundreds of children's futures.

Work pattern: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year on a permanent contract.

  • Responsible for the overall smooth running of internal and external examinations, ensuring that all related administration and preparation is undertaken in accordance with the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) regulations (on behalf of the JCQ member awarding bodies) and/or awarding body rules for exam administration in a consistent and secure fashion, thereby helping to maintain the integrity of the assessment process.
  • Liaise with staff/Heads of Department re pupil examination entries.
  • Disseminate examination information to staff, pupils and parents/carers, including exam and invigilation timetables, guidelines and querying results.
  • Create and generate interim reports to parents on students' progress and achievements.
  • Responsible for the local management of the MIS System (Bromcom) for a large Secondary Academy.
  • Input data, check information and run reports for Principals, Area Data Manager, Area Data Officer and Improvement Cluster Leads to help highlight trends, results, best practice and potential risks.
  • Work alongside the broader IT & Data Team to ensure operational cover is maintained.
  • Safeguard the integrity of all Trust data by ensuring the accurate input and audit, as required, of information being inputted to DRET systems.
You will oversee the management of the school external and internal examination system. You will recruit, manage and lead on training examination invigilators as well as manage an Exams Assistant.

Key tasks will be ensuring safe storage and confidentiality of examination materials, ensuring safe and secure distribution of examination scripts and coursework to relevant bodies.
