Job Advert:


This volunteer role is to support the staff in the summer schemes to provide a stimulating and caring environment for the children and young people.

To encourage the children to try new experiences and have fun during their summer break.


Having someone to support and encourage them can give children and young people the confidence they need to try new experiences and enjoy a wide range of activities.


Providing an opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities can promote physical and emotional wellbeing, leading to increased confidence and self esteem.


When do I need to be available?
Summer schemes run throughout July/August. Monday to Friday. The ideal commitment from a volunteer is a minimum of 1 week. The role will be required over the summer period


Weeks commencing 15th
July and 22nd
July:


  • Morning session
  • 8.

45am pm:

Afternoon session pm - 4.

15pm**:

Full day
  • 8.
45am - 4.15pm**The location of the Belfast Community Scheme will be: Mencap Centre, 5 School Road, Newtownbreda, BT8 6BT


What skills do I need?**- Commitment to the aims and values of Mencap

  • Ability to keep information confidential
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Some knowledge of disability or issues that are relevant to children and young people with a learning disability/learning, behavioural or communication difficulty
