Job Description & Person Specification

Job title:
*Female Personal Care Assistant - Live In


Location:
Bournemouth BH8 area


Job purpose:


I am looking for a *female PA, to assist me with day to day living in my own home in Bournemouth.

You will provide physical personal care, support me to remain in a good place with my mental health and to join me in daily social activities that I love to do.

This role will be a job share as a live in carer one week on and one week off and will require overnight stays on your working weeks.

The role is available to be directly employed or as a self-employed PA.

About the individual:


I am a young lady with Cerebral Palsy, Neurogenic Bladder Secondary to CP, Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder, Depression, Anxiety and in continued recovery with Anorexia.

I am a wheelchair user with a catheter in place.


Rate of pay:
To be advised (self-employed applicants should advise of an hourly rate)


Hours of work:
One week on and one week off basis - live in care


Main duties

Social duties:


  • Support me with social activities with friends and family
  • Support to attend Boccia and train for future competitions
  • Support to attend shows, musicals, festivals and concerts
  • Support to go shopping
  • Support to attend hairdressers

Personal Care:

- support with bathing or showering
- shaving
- dressing
- catheter care
- administering medication
- meal prep / food encouragement on bad mental health days
- performing exercises / physiotherapy
- phoning & booking and taking me to hospital appointments


Domestic duties:

- support with grocery shopping
- cleaning, changing linen, laundry, ironing


These duties may vary from day-to-day

Specific requirements:Someone who has some understanding of mental health and Cerebral Palsy or is willing to learn about it

Other: Because the nature of this role includes personal care the potential employer will be considering female applicants only.


Skills, qualifications and experience

Essential:

- driving licence
- confidentiality
- good at building relationships

  • Willing to have training on my power stand aid, physio plans and catheter care

Preferred:

- good communicator
- likes dogs or other pets
- a good listener
- ability to support people with mental health conditions

be able to advocate my needs with me to professionals when needed


Other Requirements

Essential:


  • Able to provide evidence of selfemployment such as Public Liability Insurance, Terms and Conditions, tax reference number, if self employed.
  • DBS Check will be required
  • Legally Able to Work in UK
