Forest School Leader (SEND High School)

  • Full-Time, Long-Term (September to at least October Half Term, potential for extension)_

Tradewind Recruitment is delighted to be partnering with an outstanding SEND high school in the search for a dedicated and experienced Forest School Leader.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for outdoor education to make a positive impact on the lives of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).


  • The School:_
Our client is an outstanding SEND high school that caters to children aged 11-19 years old. Located in a beautiful setting, the school offers a stimulating environment for both staff and students.

The school is committed to providing exceptional education and support to children with ASD, and it has been graded outstanding by Ofsted for its high-quality provision.


  • Responsibilities:_
  • Lead and coordinate Forest School activities, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment for students.
  • Develop and deliver a diverse range of outdoor activities, promoting independence, creativity, and resilience among students.
  • Plan and implement tailored sessions to support the specific needs of children with ASD.
  • Collaborate closely with the school's teaching and support staff to create a holistic approach to education and care.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, documenting achievements and areas for improvement.
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all participants during Forest School sessions.
  • Requirements:_
  • Proven experience as a Forest School Leader or a similar role, preferably within an SEND setting.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of how to support children with ASD, including strategies and techniques for effective communication and engagement.
  • A genuine passion for outdoor education and its positive impact on children's development.
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A creative and adaptable approach to teaching, tailoring activities to suit individual needs and abilities.
  • Relevant qualifications in Forest School Leadership or a related field would be advantageous.
