RECEPTIONIST/ FRONT OF HOUSE / ADMINISTRATION/ CHIROPRACTIC ASSISTANT role.
The Sykes Verwey Centre
- is a well established Chiropractic clinic in Newton Abbot.

Started in 1963, it has been under new ownership since 2018 and has been growing fast since that time.

The clinic has 4 chiropractors and one massage therapist. It is a busy practice with a focus on providing outstanding spinal health care within a comfortable family environment.

Our patients have been coming to the practice for years and there is a strong emphasis on maintenance / wellness care utilising chiropractic treatment as part of a healthy lifestyle.

It is a relaxed and friendly clinic with a collaborative team who have been with us for many years providing an honest and professional service.

We have an excellent reputation in the community with most of our referrals from word of mouth.


We are seeking a competent, confident and dynamic receptionist who can work in a high pace environment to help assist the chiropractors adding value to our patient's overall experience.

The front of house receptionist will help encourage a successful and profitable chiropractic practice.

We have a large patient base and want our reception team to deliver at every stage of our patient's interactions with the clinic.

We pride ourselves on genuinely caring about each and every member of our team.

Each team member is given the freedom to excel in their role without micromanaging - we want you to work independently.

Many of our reviews on google comment specifically on how lovely the reception team is. Which is testament to what we are trying to achieve at the practice.


Chiropractic experience is desirable either from having been under chiropractic care or having worked as a chiropractic assistant or in another private healthcare setting such as dentistry (however it is by no means mandatory).

The main job description and attributes for this role include:
*A positive attitude, someone that is approachable, personable, emphatic, and engaging.

*Ability to connect with people and put them at ease.

*High energy and approach to life.

*Sales experience would be desirable and being comfortable with taking block pre payments and guiding patients on courses of care to help aid their healing journey.

*Comfortable with being able to cash up, do end of day totals, and notice any discrepancies.

  • Reporting to the managing director and owner and adhere exactly to the requirements as laid out by the clinics policies
*Diligently follow your personal duties each day and try to maintain these standards.

*Be an excellent communicator, engaging, asking questions, not only verbally but with electronic communications also. Ensuring timely, polite standards are maintained on an ongoing basis.

*Comfortable working with Mac operating systems.

*Experience with writing medical letters (not mandatory)

*Experience with typing up invoices / word documents

*Comfortable with calling marketing leads and being able to book new patients via telephone calls without feeling awkward/uncomfortable.

  • Being a good multi tasker with payments, booking etc.
*Ensuring a welcoming and friendly approach is maintained at all times.

*Answer calls to the phone quickly and efficiently and follow the booking system and processes used (cliniko at present)

*Organised. For example, general tidiness pre and post shift

*Happy to do some cleaning within the practice, hoovering etc with washing of towels and gowns.

*Go the 'extra mile' as required in supporting the patients and your colleagues.

*Proactively and diligently build trust and long-lasting relationships with the patients.

*Help ensure stock levels are kept at the appropriate levels, taking action when you discover a shortage or absence of stock ordering.

*Adhere to confidentiality & data protection policies

*Be a willing and productive contributor in clinic meetings.

*Be adaptive and open to change as the business develops further

*Be happy to do additional hours and cover for the other 2 receptionists when on annual leave.


Job Type:
Part-time

Permanent contract with pro rata holiday entitlement based on agreed hours.

Permanent Salary:
£12.00 per hour + with view to increase.

Expected hours/shift pattern (to be negotiated): per week
