Pay rate:
£23.47 Day Rate, £28.63 Night


Calling all Biomedical/ Clinical Scientist in the Devon area CPL are partnering with a National Healthcare company who are looking for a HCPC registered Biomedical/Clinical Scientist with a background in molecular biology.

This is a Band 7 position involvingthe delivery of effective testing operations for a University supported COVID-19 LAMP Screening Programme.

This position is initially for 6 months.


Key Responsibilities:


Provide molecular biology based technical expertise and carry out all laboratory analyses associated with the post, including authorising results whilst maintaining appropriate records and documentation and within contracted KPIs.

Ensure prompt notification or referral of unusual results to the Clinical Director as appropriate.

Exercising judgement and interpretation to validate results and generate laboratory reports in accordance with the Programme's policies and procedures.

Ensure the continued safe and clinically compliant operation of the end-to-end LAMP assay based on standardised operating procedures.

Overseeing the sophisticated automation equipment and ensuring that all data generated through routine QC checks meets required expectations.

Maintain and develop standard operating procedures and policies to ensure that the Programme meets appropriate UKAS standards as required.

Undertake audits in line with the requirements of the quality management system as required.


Key Requirements:
Essential

State Registered BMS (HCPC), Clinical Scientist or equivalent experience*.

Degree in Biomedical Sciences or relevant qualification*.

Significant experience in molecular biology techniques*.

Experience working in a quality managed laboratory environment and return of results*.


Knowledge of health and safety regulations for working in a Containment Level 2 laboratory environment and appropriate handling of human biological samples.

Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and service improvement

Experience of working with LIMS.


Desirable:
Experience in using liquid-handling robotics.

Experience of working with viral RNA.
