We are looking to recruit1 Clinical Fellow ST3+ Registrarsto complete our staff of 16 Consultants, 14 Specialist Registrars/Trust Clinical Fellows, 4 Specialty Doctors and 16 SHO/FY2 doctors.

The appointed postholder will be expected to start in Oct 2023 and this will be a 12 month contract initially.

Each Clinical Fellow will work a 14 week rolling rota with prospective cover.

The postholder will have on average a weekly special interest session (eg maternal medicine, acute gynaecology, urogynaecology, colposcopy) and the remainder will be general clinical sessions.

There is a fixed teaching session and time for research.

The posts are not approved for training by the Postgraduate Dean; however, the same training and education opportunities will be available as for Specialist Registrars.


For those applicants that have obtained MRCOG or an equivalent, there will be the opportunity to complete ATSMs such as Acute Gynaecology and Early Pregnancy, Benign Gynaecological Surgery - Hysteroscopy, Maternal Medicine, Advanced Labour Ward Practice and High Risk Obstetrics.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is a busy and innovative department. The Obstetric unit has approximately 6000 deliveries per annum with a high proportion of high risk cases.

The Delivery Suite is supported by a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and as such, attracts a large number of in utero transfers.

We have a tertiary referral Fetal Medicine Unit with 4 Consultants and 3 specialist midwives.

Within Gynaecology there are specialist clinics in the following areas:
endometriosis, colposcopy, infertility, urogynaecology, vulval disease, perineal clinic, acute gynaecology, out-patient hysteroscopy and early pregnancy. There are 5 Consultants with an interest in mínimal access surgery. There are also 3 fertility consultants who contribute to the gynaecoloy services. We have specialist joint maternal medicine clinics with neurologist, rheumatologist, endocrinologist, haematologist, gastroenterologist and cardiologist. We also work closely with perinatal psychiatrist as we have a Mother and Baby Unit on site.
