Dovetail and Slate are recruiting on behalf of a leading education provider based in Cambridge.


Role Purpose


Lead and manage the Student Support Services team to provide excellent support services to stakeholders, including potential and actual students, internal colleagues and external agencies.

Provide appropriate welfare and safeguarding services for all studentsin the College (including work-based students) as follows:


  • Careers, IAG and Personal Guidance (including acting as the College's Careers Leader)


  • Student Advice

  • Welfare and wellbeing support including Counselling and Mental Health (including Senior Mental Health lead)


  • Student Advice

  • Bursary and financial support
  • Campus behaviour and safety
  • School Transition Support
  • Looked After Children, Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children and Care Leavers
  • Personal Development Coaches and Personal Development Programmes
  • Cross college and centralised Enrichment
  • Student Voice & Students' Union
  • Attendance Monitoring
  • Learning Resources Centres
  • Catering facilities and contracts
  • Operational oversight for Safeguarding

Role Duties

  • Provide effective leadership and line management support to Student Support Services Directorate
  • Review, develop and implement effective frameworks, systems and policies that ensures a holistic, inclusive and accessible provision of student support for all students to enable their success.
  • Deliver an effective Personal Development Strategy.
  • Work collaboratively with the delivery, support and professional services teams to enhance the student experience.
  • Accurately monitor, report on and improve the performance of Student Support Services
  • Ensure outstanding customer service to students and other stakeholders of the service
  • Contribute to creating a safe, secure, healthy and supportive environment for all students that promote the best student outcomes and success.
  • Lead on appropriate and timely action to safeguard students and develop and regularly review safeguarding processes and systems to ensure best practice safeguarding and child protection advice and support.
  • Ensure that all enquiries made to the college are handled professionally, efficiently and effectively and that course enquiries translate into recruitment onto an appropriate course for the student.
  • Manage the financial support streams to attract, equip and support students.
  • Undertake the role of Careers Leader to ensure the college provides high quality, careers and personal guidance programme that meets all 8 Gatsby Benchmarks.
  • Oversee all safeguarding, welfare and mental health support services provided to students, working as a key deputy to the College's SMT Designated Safeguarding Lead. (Annex B)
  • Promote British Values and encourage students to respect others with particular regard to the protected characteristics set out in the Equality Act 2010.
  • Ensure students are equipped with the knowledge to keep them fit and healthy, both physically and emotionally.
  • Ensure that Student Support Services are promoted to existing and potential students in College and at events and in publicity for potential students.
  • Develop effective partnerships with key partners and external agencies to enhance Student Support Services provision and act as the main point of contact for issues and initiatives.
  • Ensure the range of Student Support Services available to students meet their needs.
  • Oversee the management of the Learning Resources Centre to ensure an efficient and customer focused service to students.
  • Lead on the College's Induction and Personal Development Programmes including overseeing the organisation of events linked to Personal Development themes.

Requirements:


  • Hold a relevant qualification at Level 5 or above.
  • Have extensive experience of safeguarding and Student Support Services.
  • Have experience of managing operational services.
  • Evidence of having detailed knowledge of current legislation on Student Support Services and safeguarding
  • Evidence of working with external partners and staff across the organisation to support young people
  • Evidence of having supported atrisk and vulnerable students and experience of crisis intervention strategies.
  • Experience of analysing data and providing performance reports
  • Evidence of successful relevant industrial experience
  • Working knowledge of best practice in Health & Safety
