Job Summary
Our Workshop teams are pivotal in enabling Operations to deliver safe and consistently reliable customer service.

With a varied fleet our Technicians are responsible for maintaining, diagnosing and repairing our vehicles and specialised Ground Support Equipment to the highest of standards.

Working as part of team you will ensure asset up time is maximised and equipment is maintained in accordance with Swissport's stringent standards.

The ability to work well under pressure, is essential. Shift work and overtime will be required. We offer a competitive remuneration package and generous benefits.

  • Responsible for complying with Swissport & mandatory Health and Safety Processes and Procedures.
  • Responsible for observing safe working practices when working with chemicals and flammable liquids and the wearing of personal protective equipment when working with hazardous substances, excessive noise and dusty environments.
  • To provide high quality equipment maintenance, diagnostics and repairs (including servicing) to nonmotorised equipment, ensuring that all repairs meet manufacturer/regulatory recommendations and are completed within a timely & costeffective manner.
  • Comfortable carrying out routine maintenance and repair activities, including refurbishment works.
  • Carry out minor bodywork/branding and fabrication repair work, including welding to recognised industry standard as and when required.
  • To communicate and maintain a professional and effective working relationship with colleagues and customers.
  • Carry out minor bodywork/branding.
  • Ensure item disposal is carried out in accordance with Swissport disposal procedures.
  • To provide when required relief/cover at other Swissport fleet workshops within the organisation.
  • Maintain legible and accurate paperwork and use the computer based fleet management system to keep maintenance records up to date and accurate.
  • Maintain a standard of cleanliness of the workshop environment and to report any building or equipment defects to the Supervisor immediately in line with 6S Audits.
  • Attend courses and undertake training and development activities to ensure Continuing Professional Development.
  • Participate in any associated training that may be required from time to time, to be able to contribute to the successful achievement of Swissport's business/strategic objectives.
  • Will be required to impart knowledge and provide assistance to enable the development of other employees when required.
  • Ensure compliance with all Swissport and local processes and procedures.
  • Work with the team to ensure compliance with KPI's is maintained.

Qualifications:

Qualifications & Competencies

  • In possession of at least three GCSE's / O Level or Leaving Cert (and equivalent)
  • A good level of mechanical engineering experience is required.
  • Technical Apprenticeship to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Read and interpret technical literature and publications.
  • Perform basic engineering skills.
  • Perform test and measures.
  • Must hold a recognised industry welding/fabrication qualification or equivalent
  • Maintain equipment using basic sheet metalwork techniques.
  • Use and maintain abrasive wheels fitted to fixed and portable grinding machines.
  • Use workshop lifting equipment.
  • Ability to set priorities and reprioritise as needed.
  • Flexible to work on various shifts (days, evening, weekends, and public holidays).
  • Ability to be available oncall on a rotating shift basis.
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel to and from work at times where public transport is not available.
  • Ability to follow Swissport processes and procedures.
  • Willingness to work in inclement weather.
  • Physically fit, able to work in a manual environment and repeatedly lift to 25kg throughout a shift.
  • Able to work as a team in a fastpaced environment.
  • Strong work ethic with a cando attitude.
  • A full valid UK driving license
  • Good computer (PC) skills and maintenance programs experience.
  • Willingness to travel when necessary for training or to assist other Swissport stations with GSE needs.
