Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust requires a highly motivated, reliable and flexible Maintenance Assistant to work as a key member ofthe Estates Team. You will play a proactive role within the team, delivering key objectives to meet both departmental and Trust requirements.
The post holder will assist the Estates Directorate to provide a comprehensive and responsive Estate Management Service to all of the Trust's properties.
You will be a hands on maintenance assistant who is able to deliver the full range of duties associated with the post holder's core craft trade.
To carry out day-to-day maintenance checks and repairs on engineering plant, equipment and the building fabric including: basic electrical, mechanical and building works e.g.

- Water quality management planned and reactive maintenance e.g. taking water samples,
- Boiler house and plant room duties e.g. water testing, steam plant checks.
- Carry out basic electrical, mechanical and building works e.g. replacing lamps, repairing
joinery and decoration.
- To assist craft persons of all trades in the repair and maintenance of hospital property and
- Collection of data e.g. utility meter readings.
- Water softener plant checks including salt deliveries to the areas
- To assist in the cleanliness and safety of hospital equipment, machinery, tools, vehicles and
- To observe and abide by all safety rules and regulations taking appropriate consideration of
- To ensure work is carried out in a professional manner.
- To be a responsible team member who uses initiative and is flexible to the needs of the
- To undertake training to learn new generic skills in order to fulfil the requirements of the
