Responsibilities & Behavioural Competencies

  • Provide a market leading broking service, focused on providing quality customer service and positive outcomes for their clients.
  • To develop a strong working relationship with your brokers, our insurers and other service providers.
  • To ensure that you understand the latest compliance requirements and upcoming changes, to trade in a compliant manner, whilst also ensuring compliant behaviour of your brokers and escalating to the compliance department where appropriate.
  • To trade with insurers to obtain best possible terms for our end customers.
  • Understand our brokers and end customer's needs and the challenges they face.
  • To meet KPIs and objectives set out by Broking Manager.
  • Take a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • To take pride and ownership of your job.
  • To add value to our customers at every interaction.
  • To deal with problems constructively, looking to solve the root cause of daytoday issues faced, engaging with Broking Manager and other management where necessary.
  • Support Broking Manager, undertaking tasks delegated where required.
  • To support the business placement strategy laid out by Insurer Support and Head of Broking and Operations.
  • Follow processes and procedures laid out by Head of Broking and Operations, as well as working with them to develop and improve.
  • Adhere to the Broking Team Standards.
  • To seek efficiencies across the business.
  • Ensure you have the appropriate knowledge for your role and work with your Broking Manager to create a development plan. This will include compliance, product and market knowledges, broking systems, IT and soft skills.
  • Understand the culture of being an Employee Owner, the personal stake in the company's performance and how to contribute to its success.
  • Support other broking teams when required.
  • To understand the roles of other team members in all teams of the business, understanding the impact you have on each other.

  • Challenge current ways of working, brokers, insurers, and team leaders in a productive manner whilst maintain a working relationship.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

The individual should have several years' experience working in an insurance broking capacity.

Management experience is preferable but not essential, and if the individual has no prior experience they should be able to provide examples of situations where they have had to manage people.


A strong business sense is required to follow board & management objectives, and to be able to understand and empathise with the challenges faced by our Brokers in running their own business.


GCSE or equivalent education is required, with A Level, degree level education and CII qualifications being preferable but not essential.

Experience and use of MS Office is required, and prior experience of using Broking software and Insurer extranets is preferable but not essential.

Strong influence and negotiation skills will be required when dealing with insurers and Brokers.
