Goods In Inspector - Up to £35,000pa (DOE) + 6 Month Fixed Term + 4 Day week + Life Assurance + 5% Pension Match.

Our client is world renowned in their industry. They manufacture a highly bespoke product and are experiencing phenomenal growth. They offer a full turnkey package in order to satisfy all customer requirements.

From concept, through to design and manufacture, and then through to installation and commissioning they provide the full service-life assurance for their products.

Due to a new project initiative, they have a fantastic opportunity for a Goods In Inspector to join their team in Bolton.


The Role:

This role provides the daily operation of the stores department.

The Goods In Inspector is responsible for ensuring that component items bought in via suppliers are checked against project specification and are inspected to the required standard before receipt in stores, and to coordinate the supply of components, materials and consumable stock, primarily in kit form, to ensure the continuous operation of the manufacturing area.

Checking conformance with required certification and traceability documentation is also an important responsibility.


Main responsibilities and duties:


  • Check Goods In items by performing dimensional and visual inspection of raw materials and supplied components to confirm they have been delivered in accordance with the purchase order documentation ensuring the rejection and replacement of any defective products are actioned in a timely manner.
  • Report quality variances to the QC representatives.
  • Debrief the quality control inspector of any quality variances to enable them to produce a nonconformance report so an investigation into the route cause can be established.
  • Determine, establish and supply kits to support the phased in load of material and products to ensure the lines are fed directly without having to search for required items.
  • Conduct regular checks on kits prior to issue to ensure accuracy, record and report any anomalies to QC representatives.
  • Participate in the control of the internal and external material storage supply arrangements and facilities, ensuring that materials are stored safely and security processes are implemented to prevent any unauthorised material being taken from store.
  • Participate in the annual, periodic and perpetual material stores stock taking activities presenting outcomes and improvement proposals to the Operations team.
  • To operate the relevant lifting equipment, for example Cranes, forklift truck and other recognised lifting equipment, ensuring the relevant licences are held.
  • All individuals are expected to be flexible in undertaking the duties and responsibilities attached to their job and may be asked to perform other reasonable duties.
  • Any ad hoc duties commensurate to the role.

What We Are Looking For:


The Goods In Inspector will have/be:

  • Experience of working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Certified licences to use the following: Site approved FL T's, Overhead Cranes (Essential).
  • Knowledge/experience of Stores and stock control.
  • Experience/understanding of rigorous quality management systems and processes.
  • Competent IT Skills with ability in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, procedures and work instructions.
  • A good understanding of manufacturing tolerances and industry standards.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good observational, analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Literacy and Numeracy
- must be able to confirm numerically and literacy capable.


What Is on Offer:

Our client is offering the Goods In Inspector a competitive basic salary of up to £35,000 (Pro Rata).
