Our 9-year-old client, who has complex Cerebral Palsy, is looking for a Support Worker who will support him out in the community, or whilst enjoying playing with his toys at home and spending time with his family at home.

The Role/Client:


  • H lives at home with his parents. He has complex needs including cerebral palsy, dystonia and epilepsy.
  • He is nonverbal but can communicate using facial expressions, sounds and gestures.
  • H is a wheelchair user who requires support for all activities of daily living including personal care and any required therapy exercises.
  • This role will involve moving and handling and using a hoist.
  • M uses a gastrostomy and PEG for food, fluids and medication.
  • The role will involve facilitating play, accompanying H during trips out with his family and supporting H in all activities.
  • You will receive full training in all aspects of our client's care and be fully supported by H's Case Manager.

About You:


  • You will have a minimum of 1 year's complex care experience working with children with complex needs which you may have gained in a Carer or Support Worker role or as a Teaching or Learning Support Assistant in a school or through personal experience.
  • It is essential that you are a driver able to drive our client's automatic wheelchair adapted vehicle.
  • You will accompany H during his hydrotherapy sessions so although it is not necessary for you to be a swimmer, you will need to be confident around and in the water.
  • You will provide a supportive, engaging and childcentred approach to our client by following his care plan and helping him achieve developmental and rehabilitation goals.
  • You will be kind, positive, reliable, and able to reassure and build a relationship of trust with H's parents.

Pay:

- £18 per hour Weekdays
- £27 per hour Bank Holidays (weekdays)


Job Details:


  • Hours / Shifts available: Weekday shifts available as follows:
  • Term time: ( 2 X 6 hours = 12 hours per week)
Tues & Fri 14:00 to 20:00 (6 hours per day)

  • School holidays: ( 3 x 12 hours = 36 hours per week)
Weds, Thurs, Fri - 08:00 to 20:00 (12 hours per day)
