POST:
CLINICAL FELLOW IN SURGERY, ORTHOPAEDICS AND MAJOR TRAUMA





BASE:
QUEEN ELIZABETH UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL


Posts available include:
6 x 12 month Orthopaedics

  • 5 x 12 _month General Surgery & General Surgery/Transplant
  • 6 x 12 _month Major Trauma fellow (with associated subspecialty Surgery or Orthopaedics)


You will be assigned both a Clinical and Educational Supervisor at the start of the job, with the expectation to have goals set out at the start of the job and regular meetings thereafter, recorded for future reference.


Subscription of the eLogbook and engagement with ISCP will be supported to allow formal record your operative sessions and progress.

These will be signed off at the end of the 6 months by your clinical supervisor.


The post is available within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde hospitals and duties will include: managing major trauma, general surgery, Orthopaedics and transplant; participating in the on-call rota in the department, emergency ward cover; and attending outpatient clinics and theatre.

In addition the applicant can take a lead on departmental research or teaching activity, possibly with a view to completion of a higher degree (MSc).

Established projects exist from the Orthopaedic trauma base, upper GI and Colorectal surgery. Time within the working week may be set aside for this specifically.

This post does not have Educational approval and will not be recognised for training.


However, the post holder will be offered the same opportunities for education as the other training post jobs at the same level.
