Description

We are looking for 2 workshop Apprentices to work with our experience team of machinists, joiners and finishers. Day release plus varied hands on training in each department.


Woodland of Kingston Ltd manufactures and installs timber Doors and Windows to a very high standard for the top end of the market.

We supply to the domestic market as well as Architects and Builders

  • Day release for study at college
  • 1 day per week in machine shop learning the use of the various machines and types of timber used for different types of work. Handling timber and feeding machines. Some work is limited by age due to the type of machines used. Clearing and keeping area dust free
  • 1 day per week in joinery area learning how to construct timber doors and windows. Use of hand tools. Clearing area and moving products
  • 1 day per week in spraying area learning how to rub down and finish products. Use of spray guns and importance of dust free environment. Learning how to fit window and door furniture
  • Ad hoc work may involve loading and unloading vans and disposal of rubbish. Stacking timber and unloading deliveries. Passing material orders to office
Entry requirements

GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade 4

Training to be provided


Apprentices will be required to attend college at least x 1 day per week either at Richmond Campus completing necessary mandatory training and units associated with the apprenticeship.


The apprentice will be required to complete:

  • Carpentry Bench Joinery Level 2 Standard.
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities.
  • Skills, Knowledge, and Behaviours.
  • Standard and End Point Assessment.
  • Functional Skills in English, Maths, and ICT (if required).
  • Other training will be provided by the employer as required to enable the fulfilment of the job role.
Things to consider

The workshop can be noisy with machines running & ear defenders are supplied for this. Some work is dusty and masks are supplied for this. Work is carried out standing all day.
The hourly rate will vary dependent on the apprentices age. The rate will be reviewed after 6 months or when the apprentice reaches the next wage band whichever comes sooner

At the end of the apprenticeship you will be employed in one of the 4 areas of the business as a qualified member of staff.

The area will depend on your progression within the company during your apprenticeship and the area that you have found suits you best.
