FTE: 1.0 FTE (working 37 hours per week)
Duration of Contract: Permanent
Salary: UH7, £37,099 per annum with the potential to progress to £44,263 per annum by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience


Annual Leave:

35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year
Location: Institute of Sport, De Havilland Campus, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield- The School of Life and Medical Sciences at the University of Hertfordshire is seeking to appoint a full-time permanent Lecturer to contribute to the BSc (Hons) Sports Business Management (CMDA) programme as a Work Based Tutor (WBT) and a teaching member of staff.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding department located in our state-of-the-art Institute of Sport adjacent to the Hertfordshire Sports Village. The role of WBT is to support, monitor and review the progress of all apprentices on the programme; act as the main point of contact and liaison with Apprentice and the Employer Mentor/Assessor in their relationship with the Programme Lead; and work with the Programme Lead to support the delivery and review of the programme.

This role will also include lecturing and teaching commitments on the BSc (Hons) Sports Business Management (Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship) programme.


Main duties and responsibilities

  • Key responsibilities and duties for this role include supporting the apprentices to understand their journey and providing effective coaching to support them with their personal and professional development throughout their time on the programme. The Lecturer in Sports Business Management will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with Employer Mentors and will engage with the logging of data and reports on APTEM and/or other IT platforms as required. The post holder will also support the programme leader with the development and delivery of the programme, which will include lecturing, marking, and assessing the learners and students.
    Skills and experience required
  • Applications will be welcomed from those with previous academic lecturing experience in sports business management or a directly related area. Experience of coaching, mentoring, and providing pastoral and academic support to students/learners is an essential requirement of this role. The applicant will also require experience of engaging with employers of degree apprenticeships.
  • Knowledge of the CMDA apprenticeship standard and the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours required to fulfil the apprenticeship standard and the ability to build good working relationships with learners and employers is essential. You will have proficiency in English Language and Good numeracy, literacy and IT skills.
    Qualifications required
  • Applicants should be educated with a minimum of an undergraduate degree qualification in sports business management or a directly related area. A doctoral level qualification, and a teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE) or fellowship of AdvanceHE are desirable.
