About the role


We have an exciting opportunity to join our Civil Liberties Department in our prestigious office in the centre of Hull.

The Legal Assistant is pivotal in securing potential clients and providing legal and administrative support to our legal teams. This is a busy and challenging role which offers a great opportunity for rewarding client work.

This is an ideal role for someone who may already hold a role in the legal sector or for an ambitious law graduate with or without experience working in a law firm who is looking to further develop their career.

You will be required to:


  • Set the tone of the initial client journey in accordance with our company values through your upbeat, but empathetic, handling of initial client queries.
  • Following assessment, notify the client of our decision and deal with any follow up correspondence
  • Record new enquiries and open files on the case management system.
  • Assist with the preparation of electronic Court bundles.
  • Support fee earners generally in the running of the cases.
  • Respond to post, telephone enquiries and queries from clients, experts and colleagues where appropriate, in order to progress cases effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to deliver excellent client care and possess empathy and compassion to help guide our clients through challenging personal circumstances.
  • Adherence to laws and best practices regarding dealing with client data.
  • High degree of attention to detail and trustworthiness.
  • Have excellent organisational skills and time management skills.
  • Be respectful towards others and have a positive, willing and 'can do' attitude.
  • Be keen to learn, interested in driving your own career progression and be proactive in taking ownership of this.
  • Be IT literate, including knowledge of using case management software, ideally Proclaim.
