Summary
My high-profile utilities client is looking for an associate buyer to join their team based in Warwick on a hybrid basis (1 day a week on site) on an initial 12-month contract with chance of extensions.
As Associate Buyer you will support the delivery of a programme of high-profile HVDC subsea cable projects, building category and contractual knowledge in the process.
The projects, which are central to the UK's energy transition, require Associate Buyers tosupport Buyers, Senior Buyers and Category Managers in project implementation activities, such as designing and executing procurement strategies and drafting procurement and contractual documents.
Key Accountabilities- Support the delivery of high complexity strategic sourcing events within the defined programme, working with Buyers, Senior Buyers, Category Managers and stakeholders to understand and challenge demand and ensure the best possible solutions.
- Support Buyers, Senior Buyers and Category Manager in developing project characteristics, researching supply markets, suppliers and assessing trends, opportunities and risks. Feedback insights to Category Managers, Senior Buyers and Buyers to drive the continuousimprovement of category strategy, project procurement strategy and procurement performance.
- Execute standardised strategic sourcing processes from market engagement through to award, ensuring goods / services are procured in a bestinclass manner that drives value.
- Work with Contract Managers to ensure the successful delivery of contracted activities, identifying continuous improvement opportunities through engagement with suppliers and stakeholders, and maximizing value for money from contracts awarded.
- Delivering value by effectively managing tender events
- Scope and develops regional contractual agreements that meet the customer stakeholder requirements and expectations.
- Work closely with multiple internal and external stakeholders in delivery of tender events
- An understanding of the role of Procurement as a function and how this delivers value in an organisation and project
- Evidence of foundation commercial skills including the ability to conduct research and utilise basic data analytical skills to convert information into actionable insight to negotiate desired commercial benefits.
- Ability to evidence good communication skills and effective team working as well as building and maintaining strong relationships.
- Ability to show competence in planning & organising multiple activities to deliver objectives
