We have an incredible opportunity to join us here at Phoenix Group as a Head of Risk Operations & Integration to join our Risk Strategy & Reporting team to lead M&A integration activities and strategic planning for the Risk function.

The role

Key Responsibilities:
-
Drive the development of the Group Risk strategy , working with the Risk Leadership team to define a clear vision for the function and the roadmap to achieving it.
-
Lead development of the annual Group Risk Mission & Mandate and Plan , working with the Group Risk Leadership Team to ensure the Plan provides appropriate assurance and independent review of the key risks to which the Group and its customers are exposed and proposals that could materially change the risk profile of the Group.

Lead operational excellence activities across Group Risk, including:

  • Lead reporting on the Risk function's progress against the Group Risk Plan, identifying risks and trends for resolution within teams or escalation to the Risk Leadership Team
  • Lead reporting and analysis on capacity within the Group Risk function and the deployment of resource. Where capacity challenges are identified, propose mitigating actions, e.g., reprioritisation, replanning, or additional resources
  • Working closely with the function's HR Business Partner, support the delivery of the annual Risk People Plan
  • Working closely with the function's Finance Business Partners, support the delivery and review of Annual Operating Plan proposals and intrayear requests
  • Coordinate continuous improvement plans for the Group Risk function by continuously challenging the ways of working to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Lead the assessment of capability needs required to deliver the Risk function Plan and future strategy, agreeing action required with the Risk Leadership team.

M&A due diligence

  • Support Line 2 review of M&A proposals, including assessing the capacity requirements for Risk function integration activities and for effective Line 2 oversight of the acquired business.

Lead M&A integration across Risk function

  • Ensure appropriate resolution and oversight of Line 2 owned actions identified in M&A due diligence
  • Ensure appropriate Line 2 oversight is established for Line 1 actions identified in M&A due diligence
  • Develop and lead M&A integration plans in respect of the Risk Management Framework integration and Risk function organisational design.

Stakeholder management and building relationships:

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with each of the Risk Leadership Team, as well as with key senior stakeholders across the Group.
  • Effectively influence the Risk Leadership Team to maintain operational excellence and drive continuous improvement activity.

Lead an efficient and effective Risk Operations & Integration team:


  • Leadership:Provide leadership to the Risk Operations & Integration to ensure all key deliverables are produced in a timely manner through effective planning, prioritisation, time management and motivation of team members.

Develop team members:Develop the skills and competencies of team members, particularly in relation to operational excellence, stakeholder management and communication skills.

Appraisal:Ensure that performance ratings are calibrated across the team and contribute to functional calibration.
