Pay Band:7


Salary:
Starting £30,839 (+ £3,300 market allowance if based in London)

Contract Type:
Fixed term until the end of March 2025, with the possibility of extension


Location:
UK; Cardiff, London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Belfast.

International Science Partnerships Fund

The International Science Partnerships Fund is designed to enable potential and foster prosperity.

The multi-year, multi-disciplinary fund puts research and innovation at the heart of our international relationships, supporting UK researchers and innovators to work with peers around the world on the major themes of our time: planet, health, tech, and talent.

The fund is managed by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and delivered by a consortium of the UK's leading research and innovation bodies.

The British Council is one of the partners delivering the programme on behalf of DSIT.


Role Purpose
The Consultant ISPF role will provide integral operational support to the Senior Consultant (ISPF) and to the ISPF management team with specific responsibility for the following key areas of work:

  • Responsibility for the day to day running of the ISPF Grant Management Tool (GMT), including organising training, troubleshooting and ensuring all the data remains consistent with British Council standards and GDPR.
  • Overseeing the coordination of ISPF grant calls, directing the team, and liaising with external stakeholders.
  • Assisting with all aspects of the International Science Partnerships Fund, ensuring compliance with project management standards (including risks and issues, resourcing, records management), corporate policies and in accordance with key contractual and reporting obligations from the client the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.
  • Contributing to the phase out stages and final closure of all Newton Fund activity , ensuring that lessons learned are captured and all relevant reporting documentation is accessible for dissemination and future recommendations.
  • Supporting the Senior Consultant with reviewing lessons learned to feed into the design and shape of the new International Science Partnership Fund (ISPF).
  • Providing financial assurance and narrative updates against allocated areas of ISPF activity using RODA and other internal grant management tools.
  • Liaising with external stakeholders and customers; representing the British Council/ISPF team at internal/external meetings as required.
  • Helping to create templates, schedules and relevant documentation as directed by the Senior Consultant to operationalise the new International Science Partnership Fund (ISPF).

Main accountabilities

Operational Delivery

  • Supports the closure of the Newton Fund programme ensuring compliance with internal business assurance needs and aligning with core requirements around reporting, resourcing, monitoring and evaluation and value for money as stipulated by the client.
