What you will bring


A background in developing & evolving complex project plans through the Delivery lifecycle by interfacing with relevant business experts, obtaining the task detail required to provide adequate project scheduling information - allowing project performance to be monitored against agreed project control measures (KPIs).


Experience of analysing internal departmental schedules & external contractor project plans as required; ensuring and advising the Project Team of their suitability and any actions required to meet the overall project plan control & schedule targets.


Update project plans at a pre-determined frequency (usually monthly), obtaining the relevant inputs through collaboration with other Project Team Members.


Produce portfolio level monthly reports based upon the most up-to-date Project Plan KPIs to inform & assist the portfolio level management decision making process - informing of project performance.


Previous knowledge of providing planning advice, reports, KPIs and programme views to assist Project Team decision making at internal/external meetings.


What you'll be doing


The Major Projects Planner is responsible for update & review of project plans within a portfolio for the £2.1bn future Investment Plan of SPTransmission Major Projects, reporting on the month-to-month movement of defined project KPIs for the portfolio, using specialist Planning Software and established IT Software tools.


Developing, monitoring and updating Project Programmes for individual projects and a combined portfolio for SP Transmission Major Projects Investment Plan worth approx.

£0.5bn.


Producing monthly reporting and provides analysis and recommendations on project schedule progress and project performance v's agreed project control measures to Business Unit Managers for own portfolio of project programmes.

Minimum Requirements
HNC in a relevant discipline or previous experience in scheduling/programming/ planning projects and a portfolio of works.

Understanding of project scheduling and standard software such as Primavera and MS Project.

Experienced in report writing.

Experienced in the use of MS Office tools: Excel, Word, Access, etc.

Appreciation of quality assurance processes.
