This is 15 month apprenticeship working towards a Business Administration Level 3, this apprenticeship.
Apprenticeship meets National Minimum Wage.

Looking to start a career within a fast-paced industry which is rewarding and secure? At DFDS, we have an opportunity for an Equipment Controller Apprentice to join us working Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, at our site in Immingham.


What will the apprentice be doing?


Looking to start a career within a fast-paced industry which is rewarding and secure? At DFDS, we have an opportunity for an Equipment Controller Apprentice to join us working Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, at our site in Immingham.


Working with a small team, you'll be coordinating all aspects of equipment movement and maintenance across Europe which involves compiling data, monitoring incoming customer requests, and working with internal information platforms.

Alongside gaining your Business Administration Apprenticeship, we'll train you on everything you need to be successful in your role and apprenticeship.

Equipment Controller and Workshop Administrator duties to learn.

  • Check daily on where all the trailer fleet is and follow up on static equipment
  • Organising the MOT & Service schedules for the fleet of trailers
  • Arrange with third party repairers in all countries to book in MOT, service, and repair work on daily basis
  • Arranging for unscheduled maintenance and breakdown
  • Ensure that cost control is adhered to
  • Assist in building a new IT system within the Equipment function
  • Arrange and book trailers to ship empty to countries who are requesting extra equipment
  • Adhere to all relevant policies, operating procedures and standards at all times
  • Always work with due care and attention and in accordance with current HSE requirements to ensure the personal safety of yourself and others
  • Ensure strong working relationships are built and maintained with the clients/customers

Skills Required:
Good, solid IT skills, especially Microsoft office.


Personal Qualities:
Positive attitude, willingness to learn, punctual, good attention to detail.

Open minded, flexible, willing to learn lots of new skills and very collaborative A person who gets on well with people with attention to detail.


What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship standard, which includes:

  • Level 1/2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
  • End-Point Assessment (EPA)
This apprenticeship will be delivered in the workplace. You will have a dedicated assessor who will provide guidance and monitor progress throughout. You will have access to an online portfolio to allow you to monitor your progress and log work completed.


What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Upon successful completion of your apprenticeship there may be opportunity for a permanent role within the business.
