Job scope:

We are currently working with an independent company offering a new children's residential setting which promotes a family home environment.

The home offer support and accommodation for up to four children / young people (male and female) aged between 5and 12 who display emotional and behavioural difficulties.

We are looking for a Senior Support Worker with experience in a residential children's home environmentto join our team. They will be expected to work 10 sleep-in shifts per month.

Responsibilities:

To lead by example and support the management team to run the shift.
Take greater responsibility formentoring and supporting newer staff members.
To encourage young people to do activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on theirage.
To keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes.
To be able to deal with challenging behaviors when needed.
Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
Provide support for the children and young people in the home and to promote their independence and wellbeing.
Maintain a safe environment for young people.
Ensuring the safety of young people and maintaining an uptodateknowledge of the individual's; care plan, guidelines, reward system,and preferred method of communication.
Supporting taxing behaviorsafely and sympathetically.
Develop and maintain good working relationships with the staff, parents,Social Workers, and other professionals that may be involved in the young people's lives such as Psychologists.

Experience and knowledge:

Essential:

NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Children and Young People.
Ability to work 10 sleepin shifts per month.

Desirable:

Experience in a residential children's home environment
