Job scope:


We are currently working with an independent company offering a new children's residential setting which promotes a family home environment.

The home offer support and accommodation for up to four children / young people (male and female) aged between 5and 12 who display emotional and behavioural difficulties.

We are looking for a Senior Support Worker with experience in a residential children's home environmentto join our team. They will be expected to work 10 sleep-in shifts per month.


Responsibilities:


  • To lead by example and support the management team to run the shift.
  • Take greater responsibility formentoring and supporting newer staff members.
  • To encourage young people to do activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on theirage.
  • To keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes.
  • To be able to deal with challenging behaviors when needed.
  • Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
  • Provide support for the children and young people in the home and to promote their independence and wellbeing.
  • Maintain a safe environment for young people.
  • Ensuring the safety of young people and maintaining an uptodateknowledge of the individual's; care plan, guidelines, reward system,and preferred method of communication.
  • Supporting taxing behaviorsafely and sympathetically.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with the staff, parents,Social Workers, and other professionals that may be involved in the young people's lives such as Psychologists.

Experience and knowledge:


Essential:


  • NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Children and Young People.
  • Ability to work 10 sleepin shifts per month.

Desirable:


  • Experience in a residential children's home environment
