Role Title:


Controls Engineer
Reporting To:

Maintenance Manager


Role Purpose:

To maintain and support production and any engineering projects.


Key Responsibilities
-
Daily activity
Ø Regular interface with all members of the engineering team, support functions and Suppliers.

Ø Responsibility for all related aspects of EHS.

Ø Identify and improve productivity opportunities through continuous improvement initiatives that are engineering related.

Ø To provide an engineering support service to all production areas.

Ø To provide specific support for engineering projects.

Ø To provide technical expertise for FMEA.

Ø To offer support for problem solving activities taking place on site.

Ø To be actively involved in implementing lean philosophy across site.

Ø To provide AR information in line with company procedures and in a timely manner.

Ø Prepare specifications for capital equipment.

Ø Manage and control projects within scheduled target dates, including liaising with contractors, service partners etc.


Ø Identify and implement projects internally and externally at reducing cost, improving quality in order to achieve company performance objectives.

Ø Procurement of new machines, introduction and validation of new processes.

Ø Provide technical support in respect of production processes.

Ø To undertake design work related to projects and problem solving actions.

Ø Customer concern resolution.

Ø Process improvement (OEA increase and scrap reduction).

Ø Problem solving experience (5 why, 6 sigma, fishbone diagram) for example.

Ø Ability to problem solve under production pressures, establish standard methods and training.

Ø Able to write programs from scratch and heavy programming modifications.


Ø Manages PLC controls from reactive maintenance to planned maintenance to raise reliability, shorten cycle times and limit quality issues while correcting quality problems.

Ø Monitor and maintain the upkeep of all PLC, HMI, and robot backups.

Ø Keep all record of changes and activities completed.

Ø Supply technical assistance to the maintenance department with complex breakdowns and assist with normal breakdowns.

  • Understanding the capacity of the machines and processes in the department

  • Support maintenance by providing critical spares lists
  • Support maintenance by filling out machine fix reports to improve frontline system
  • Support maintenance by providing training on plant

Desirable Skills / Knowledge - CAD

  • New Product Introduction

  • Product design / development

Role Related Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Personal Attributes
Qualifications or Functional Experience

  • Degree in Production Engineering or HNC with relevant experience
  • 3 years manufacturing engineering experience
  • Engineering Apprenticeship useful
  • New Product Introduction
  • Liaison with suppliers and customers
  • Project Management

System or Knowledge

  • CNC programming
  • Computer Literate
  • PRO E/ Windchill
  • Understanding of SPC
  • Jig & Tool appreciation
  • Structured problem solving (8D)
  • SAP knowledge preferred
  • ISO 14001/TS 16949

Other Requirements - Driving Licence

  • Full UK Passport
  • Reasonable travel requirements
  • Must be able to work shifts as and when required
