About The Role:


A Primary SEND school in the heart of Southwark for students aged are looking for learning support assistants to join their small and unique school - there are currently 70 students attending the school.

The children come from a wide range of backgrounds, but many will have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) such as Complex needs, ADHD, and communication difficulties.


The work they do is both varied and challenging and, all staff are provided with extensive therapeutic training and support.


Their closely triangulated approach places the child at the centre of decision making, ensuring that education and therapy professionals, parents/carers, local authority teams and, most importantly, the students can work together to secure outstanding outcomes for all.


Responsibilities:


  • Assist the lead teacher in implementing lesson plans and educational activities
  • Support students with special needs, including those with autism, in their learning and development
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other staff members
  • Provide oneonone tutoring and mentoring to students who require additional support
  • Help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Assist in managing classroom behaviour and ensuring a safe learning environment

Requirements:


  • Previous experience working with students, preferably in an educational setting
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Knowledge of tutoring techniques and strategies
  • Familiarity with working with students with autism or other special needs is a plus
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
