The UCL Estates Operations team manages a property portfolio of of over 645,000m2 of diverse real estate on behalf of UCL, supporting over 50,000 students and over 15,000 staff.

Managing an in house UCL workforce of 250 staff with a contractor workforce of over 1000, the primary function of the Maintenance division is to provide all Facilities Management services including, cleaning, cleaning, security and maintenance.


About the role:

We are recruiting for a Maintenance Operations Supervisor to join our Maintenance Operations team, working on a day shift. The hours for this role will be 8am to 4.30pm Mon - Thurs, and 8am to 4pm Fri.


In this role you will supervise and direct a team of Maintenance Operatives made up to 20 trades based, semi-skilled and manual operatives.

You will plan, prioritise and allocate work to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective provision of reactive and planned maintenance services, and will assist the M&E Response Manager and Critical Services Manager in the co-ordination and effective delivery of maintenance operations.


About you:


The successful applicant will have previous experience of working in a maintenance operations supervisory role managing trade staff, preferably in a higher education institution or comparable environment.


You'll be confident, organised and able to work under pressure, implementing policies / procedures and communicating with stakeholders as well as our own engineering staff.

Sound literacy and numeracy skills are essential ,together with a broad technical knowledge of mechanical / electrical and HVAC systems and advanced problem-solving skills.

You will have an in-depth knowledge of legislation and a working knowledge of Health & Safety.
