Summary


The Governing Body of Bolton-le-Sands Church of England Primary School is seeking to appoint a highly motivated, efficient and friendly Teaching Assistant at level 2B to support the learning of specific pupils on a 1:1, 1:2 or small group basis.

This vacancy is a permanent, part-time, term time only, contract of 22.5 hours per week (including lunchtime welfare duties).

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant with a variety of experience across the primary stage as this position will not be dedicated to a single age group.

The role may also develop and change depending on the needs of the pupils. Initially, the role will be supporting pupils in Year 1 and Year 2.

Bolton-le-Sands Church of England Primary School is a popular, coastal village school set in the north of Lancashire with excellent access to the motorway network and stunning views across the bay.

Currently, there are 304 pupils on roll taught across eleven mixed-age classes.

Under the general supervision and direction of the teacher, to plan and implement learning activities for individuals and groups.

To monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher and establish supportive and constructive relationships with pupils' parents and carers.

To provide short term cover for classes to which the Teaching Assistant is normally assigned, when the class teacher is unexpectedly unavailable.

Essential Qualifications

Ability to operate at a level of understanding and competence equivalent to NVQ Level 2 standard
Good numeracy and literacy skills
Ability to make effective use of ICT
Good communication skills
Ability to supervise and assist pupils
Time management skills
Organisational skills

Desirable Qualifications

NVQ level 2 or above qualification -appropriate to the post (or equivalent)
Level 2 or equivalent qualification in English and Mathematics
First Aid Certificate

Essential Experience

Experience of working with or caring for children of primary age & ability to relate well to children
Flexible attitude to work & work as part of a team
Knowledge of classroom roles and responsibilities
Knowledge of the concept of confidentiality
Commitment to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people

Desirable Experience

Experience of working in a relevant classroom environment
Experience of supporting pupils with challenging behaviour
