Fire Door Inspector, Remediator & Fitter - Midlands to North

Fire Door Inspector, Remediator & Fitterto provide a fundamental and essential role in supporting the Passive Manager.


The Role
This will be an expanding role and your duties will develop as the Passive Division expands.

Installation of fire doors is as life critical as the product specification itself and should be carried out by someone who is competent, has been specifically trainedto install fire doors and understands their responsibilities in getting it right.

Fire doors that are incorrectly installed and fitted with incompatible components invalidate certification and will not provide adequate protection for occupants or the building

  • To lead in the Install of fire doors to manufacturers guidance and in line with our LPCB and BM TRADA third party accreditations.
  • Inspect and survey Fire Doors in a competent manner in line with current regulations.
  • Provide a full report and recommendations following the inspection.
  • Ensure that the choice of Frame/lining/casing and intumescent smoke seals are compatible.
  • Identify that the frame specification is correct for the door's rating.
  • Understand the regulations relating to the gap allowance between door and frame.
  • Complete compliant repair and maintenance work in accordance with manufacturer guidance or BS8214 and BM TRADA.
  • Survey, measure and provide all necessary information for replacement door sets.
  • Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with our Health and Safety system
  • Demonstrate an understanding and commitment to Customer Care
  • Manual handling of fire doors to and from the area of installation ensuring the safety of all individuals in the area
  • Removal of redundant fire doors for disposal
  • Ensuring work area and storage area is always clean and tidy
  • Work as a twoman team at sites across the UK

Who are we looking for


A driven and enthusiastic individual that relish's a challenging environment, who can work under pressure and works well in a team environment or on their own, must have good communication skills.

A minimum of 2 years' experience in fire door installationsto industry standards. Flexible to work across single and multiple site locations. Demonstrable technical experience with good interpersonal skills.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong familiarity and capabilities of Fire Doors include Roller Shutters and Steel Doors
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Timber Fire Doors and associated furniture.
  • Have an extensive knowledge of BRE, BM Trada, FIRAS or FDS equivalent.
  • To have a good understanding of BS8214 and BS9999.
