Description

We are looking for a highly dedicated nurse, occupational therapist or social worker to join our Liaison Psychiatry Service at the St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey, Surrey.

Our team provides a comprehensive specialist service to patients, clinicians and carers in the general hospital setting. The team has PLAN accreditation as such you will be joining an already established and cohesive team.


This is a challenging but rewarding role, offering an exciting opportunity to nurses who have a strong assessment and therapeutic skills.

You will need the ability to work autonomously whilst still contributing to the team as a whole. Previous experience of working in Liaison Psychiatry and across ages is desirable, although not essential. We offer excellent staff support through clinical supervision and teamwork.


You will have an excellent and positive approach to work, with an outstanding, demonstrable background of providing high quality care.

You will have an insight into liaison psychiatry and the national guidelines impacting these services. You will have experience and willingness to teach and educate others within the team and the wider network as well as a commitment to service development and the best possible outcomes for people in the acute hospital setting


The team is CORE 24, as such you will be expected to work a shift system across a 24 hour period seven days a week, 365 days a year, primarily assessing patients who are referred from St Peters Hospital Inpatient wards or those who present to the Emergency Department.

An understanding and positive regard for the needs and rights of people with mental health problems and their carers.

Daily provision of a comprehensive mental health consultation-liaison service to clinical teams providing clear and concise advice regarding the appropriate management of individuals referred.

You will need a sound knowledge base of working with serious ongoing mental health problems.

Sufficient clinical knowledge will enable you to make decisions, based on an analysis of complex presenting problems and judgement about available options.


This role attracts a local Retention Premium of £500 payable annually after 3 years of Service in the Team and each year thereafter as well as the Recruitment Premium of £3,000 payable on appointment - please refer to the attached protocol.
