GCU are looking for a Mobile Plant Fitter to join our team in Scotland. To work on a mobile basis covering our depots across Scotland. The work will involve travel across Scotland and accommodation will be provided.


Reporting to the Regional Manager the Fitter will be responsible for the maintenance, inspection, repair and testing of the Company's plant and equipment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Fault diagnosis,repairs and maintenance and occasional refurbishment of all types of civil engineering plant and small tools from Minidiggers, dumpers, rollers, whacker plants etc.
  • Carry out periodic safety inspections to all HGV vehicles to DVSA inspection manual standards
  • Repairs to Commercial vehicles and HGVS
  • To attend broken down or accident damaged vehicles/plant and effect permanent or running repairs as required
  • To ensure that all relevant legislation and Health and Safety procedures are adhered to

Skills and experience required:

  • Time served (City and Guilds) or equivalent, ideally with a
    IRTEC Commercial Inspection Qualification
  • Ideally possess an HGV licence category C minimum
  • Previous experience working in a relevant Fitter / Technician role.
  • Be able to work with minimum amount of supervision, effectively manage time and meet deadlines.
  • Have a good standard of verbal & written communication and can use computer systems to ensure compliance record keeping is maintained.
