SBUHB have an exciting opportunity to appoint a part time Dental Therapist on a permanent basis to work within Restorative Dentistry, Primary Care, Community and Therapies service Group.


The Restorative Dental Therapist is an integral part of the workforce within the Restorative department with services delivered from Morriston Hospital and Port Talbot Resource Centre.

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of advanced, highly specialist and complex dental care. Works largely autonomously, referring to Dental Restorative consultants where deemed necessary or at pre agreed intervals. The post holder will have a responsibility to

supervise clinical training at a specialist level for other clinical staff and provide professional advise based on clinical experience and training.

The Restorative therapist must be prepared to communicate teaching and development goals to other staff both within the clinic and as part
of a wider teaching programme. The Restorative therapist undertakes these teaching, supervision mentoring and assessment roles where required and promotes a culture of learning. Provide direct access when appropriate. To include preparation of treatment plans to ensure the delivery of effective dental care.

Responsible for a group of patients undergoing complex, highly specialised, multidisciplinary Restorative dental treatment.

Use advanced knowledge and skills to assess clinical situations and select and adapt appropriate complex techniques to adapt the treatment to the specific needs of the patient.

Monitor the dental health of all patients, assess developments in the patients' dental health, record all findings accordingly and report to Senior members of the clinical team.

Provide a range of specialised dental care within Hospital and other peripheral settings.
Responsible for prolonged periods of time undertaking detailed work with high levels of precision
and accuracy. Use highly developed physical skills to use a range of precision tools and equipment for Restorative dentistry intervention. Routine use of expensive specialised equipment.
