Job Purpose:


Reporting to the Operations Business Systems Product Manager, User Acceptance Testing Lead plays a critical role in ensuring that software or systems are thoroughly tested and validated from a user's perspective.

Their efforts help identify and resolve issues before the software is deployed to production, ultimately improving the quality and reliability of the product.

Testing should meet strong customer outcomes to support
HSB's 2025 growth ambitions.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Test Planning: Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, and other stakeholders to understand user requirements and define test objectives, scope, and test cases.
  • Test Case Design: Create detailed test cases and test scripts based on user stories, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria. Ensure that test cases cover all relevant scenarios and user interactions.
  • Test Execution: Execute test cases and test scripts, following established testing procedures and test schedules. Document test results, including any defects or issues identified during testing.
  • Exploratory Testing: Use exploratory testing techniques to uncover unexpected issues or usability problems that may not be covered by predefined test cases.
  • Defect Reporting: Report defects, issues, and discrepancies discovered during testing to the development team or relevant stakeholders. Include detailed information, such as steps to reproduce the issue and expected versus actual behaviour.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and organised test documentation, including test plans, test cases, test data, and test results. Ensure that documentation is up to date and accessible to team members.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and business analysts to resolve defects and clarify requirements. Communicate effectively to ensure a shared understanding of issues and their resolutions.
  • User Feedback: Gather feedback from endusers and stakeholders, incorporating their input into the testing process and helping to prioritize test cases based on realworld usage.
  • Acceptance Criteria Verification: Ensure that the software or system meets the predefined acceptance criteria and aligns with the business requirements.
  • Test Data Management: Manage and maintain test data, ensuring it accurately represents realworld scenarios and user interactions.
  • Test Automation: Collaborate with the automation testing team to identify opportunities for test automation and contribute to the development of automated test scripts.
  • Adherence to Standards: Follow established testing standards, best practices, and quality assurance processes within the organization.
  • Communication: Provide regular updates on testing progress, status reports, and any roadblocks or challenges encountered during testing.

Stay informed about industry trends and testing methodologies and share knowledge with team members to improve testing processes and efficiency.

  • Ability to grow key internal relationships with Directors, Sales & Development Manager, other Managers, Team Members, Underwriters, the Claims Department, and Externally with a range of contacts and customers.
  • IT literate with Keyboard skills, MS Office suite, MS Teams
  • Have knowledge using Guidewire, Hector, Acturis & Dynamics 36
  • Proficient in
    HSB's core product offering

Qualifications & Educational Requirements:


  • Essential_
  • GSCE maths and English (or equivalent)
  • Underwriting Experience and/or Claims Handling Experience
  • Desirable_
  • Post graduate Management Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Project Management or Change Management qualification
  • BSc or BA Honours or equivalent
