Residential Care & Support Workers


About Dementia Matters:


We are a small established Charity based in Newcastle and for over 25 years we have provided care and support to those living with dementia.

Our services include residential, day care and home support.

Alongside our wonderful team of staff, we have a growing team of volunteers and carers who have entrusted us with their loved ones to provide the very best we can.


Day Services
We currently operate two day services.

Our Newcastle Day Service is at The Bradbury Centre, Brunswick Village, and our Northumberland Day Service is based in Cramlington.

Both services operate Monday to Friday 9-5.


Home Support


We provide an all-inclusive Home Support service providing anything from a 1 hour call up to bespoke 24-hour packages of care.


Residential
We run a 10 bedded service that offers both respite and residential care based at The Bradbury Centre, Brunswick. We currently have exciting plans for expansion.


Job Details:


We currently have full and part time vacancies within our Residential Service at Dementia Matters for Care and Support Workers.


Day to Day:


  • To provide personal care to people we support and to know and understand the people we support on an individual basis.
  • To undertake duties outlined in the individuals care plan, notifying of updates were needed. To carry out duties in a person centred and in the least intrusive way.
  • To fully encourage the independence of the people we support.
  • Assisting people we support with their day to day activities, such as; getting up in the morning, going to bed, washing, bathing and showering, dressing and undressing, toileting, continence management and personal hygiene.
  • To assist with medication at the agreed level of support as detailed in their Care Plan and Medication Charts.
  • To prepare food and drink, being aware of individual likes and dislikes, nutritional needs and cultural requirements.
  • To use appropriate moving and assisting methods, as trained, where appropriate.
  • To accurately, legibly and factually take records in respect of care, medication and environment.
  • To always seek best practice within your role and actively look for ways to continually improve.
  • To identify and appropriately inform of any changes to an individual's circumstances.
  • To ensure attendance at all calls irrespective of service, and to appropriately inform of any changes affecting this.
  • To ensure your own availability on your working days, including every other weekend.
  • Any other adhoc duties necessary for the role.
