Description
Are you interested in prehabilitation and supporting people with cancer to prepare for their surgery?

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT) in association with Macmillan Cancer is launching a dedicated two year pilot cancer prehabilitation programme.

LTHT is a tertiary cancer centre, providing cancer services to a diverse population over a large geographical area.

Approximately 5000 cancer surgeries take place within the trust each year, of which approximately 2000 are deemed major and would benefit from a coordinated prehabilitation intervention.

The programme being launched is a multidisciplinary, personalised prehabilitation package of care for patients undergoing major cancer surgery at LTHT.

The Shape Up 4 Cancer Surgery personalised prehabilitation programme is being delivered as a partnership between LTHT, Leeds City Council Active Leeds, Leeds Beckett University, University of Leeds and Macmillan Cancer Support.

It will target patients on four cancer pathways:
Urology (Cystectomy), Upper-Gastrointestinal, Pancreas and Colorectal (those having neo-adjuvant treatment).
