We are looking for an experienced clinician with proven leadership skills and enthusiasm for service development to join our team.

Provide will be delivering the new Essex Sexual Health Service across following a successful bid, securing the contract for the next seven years.

The successful applicant will work as part of a dynamic inter-professional and organisational partnership in delivering as the lead provider for Essex Sexual Health Service (ESHS).

The post holder will hold a key role across the organisations that make up the lead provider partnership.

The role will provide final decision making, advice, guidance and direction to managers across service quadrants to deliver a progressive and ambitious new model of integrated sexual health service as set out in the specification.


The new model of delivery is an exciting opportunity to develop the service with a significant emphasis on early intervention and prevention.

Co-production with service users and partners across the system will be a key feature in shaping future delivery along with the development of opportunities to improve access through shared care pathways.


The post holder will work with principal sub-contractors to implement, review, monitor and refresh the service strategy ensuring that the overarching vision for the service is achieved.

The post holder will play a key role as part of the local health and care system, assuring performance of high quality, safe, patient and client centred innovative services and partnerships with Essex County Council (commissioner), service providers, service users and the public.

Eligible for NHS Pension

To lead the development and implementation of the new ESHS model across Essex.

To set the direction of service developments and take ultimate decisions when setting clinical pathways, to ensure operational oversite of all elements of service delivery including associated pathways with external partners (e.g. Acute Hospital services).

To chair a variety of meetings which support development, delivery and accountability.


With a consensus approach take decisions about development plans with leads and own management of such projects including appropriate delegation and follow up.

To participate in marketing and communications development to support delivery and strategy.

To be senior point of contact for the ESHS.


To maintain clear line of sight of all performance targets and communicate effectively with all parts of the partnership and others to ensure awareness and responsive remedial action when required.


To ensure that systems, processes and information flows provide effective early warning of potential risks to service quality and partnerships and support interventions where required to ensure high quality outcomes.


To identify, seek out, develop and share areas of best practice and innovation from within the speciality of sexual health and beyond to all parts of partnership in order to support continuous improvement and high quality outcomes.


To maintain principle of consistent service delivery, values and strategy across partnership whilst maintaining awareness of diversity and local identified need.

Encourage and develop a multi professional approach to service delivery engaging with a range of clinical specialists.
