Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- To ensure all children are safeguarded and their welfare, wellbeing and safety are our primary priority
- To ensure and maintain the highest standard of care is delivered across all areas of our children's development
- Socially, Physically, Intellectually and Emotionally
- To support all other team members within the allocated room in addition to the wider nursery environment
- To work as an integral part of a valued team to provide an enabling environment for all children to play, learn and develop
Key Areas:
- Work with and support children
- Record all information correctly
- To competently use the Nursery's Famly software to carry out observations and assessments
- Work as part of a dynamic team
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with parents
Main Duties:
- To follow and be consistently up to date with the nursery safeguarding procedure, ensuring all children are kept safe, healthy and secure
- To share knowledge and experience to support other team members and ensure all individuals work within a consistent system to deliver the highest quality of care
- To keep records of individual key children's development and learning journeys, making effective use of the Nursery's Famly programme, ensuring parents are always considered as partners
- To share with Room Leader/Nursery Manager the early identification and intervention for children who may potentially have special educational needs, ensuring all areas of development can be successfully met; adapting activities to meet every individual child's specific requirements
- Attend all staff training days
- Ensure all record keeping is completed, stored correctly and is all up to date
- Ensure daily room checks and outdoor checks are carried out thoroughly
- Liaise effectively with parents/carers and provide support when necessary
- Liaise with other professionals and other professionals outside of the Nursery
- To attend training, monthly staff meetings, parent's evenings and any other outside nursery events
- Undertake various domestic jobs within the nursery preparation of snack, lunch supervision, ensuring the nursery is always fit for purpose and is always left clean and tidy
- Work closely with any students or volunteers, supporting them with their training programme and providing guidance and support
- Work alongside all other team members effectively, particularly the Room Leader to ensure the nursery's philosophy is always implemented and achieved
- Read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures, ensuring all other team members have a full understanding of these and they are adhered to and effectively implemented
- Ensure the highest standards of hygiene, safety and cleanliness, within the designated area and the nursery as a whole
- Ensure that the correct procedures are followed when children are brought to and collected from the Nursery
- To maintain the highest level of confidentiality in all aspects of the Nursery setting
- To carefully follow the Nursery's Accident and First Aid Procedure and record all information correctly
Specific Childcare Tasks:
- Reporting any concerns regarding a child's welfare to the Nursery Manager and ensure that the correct safeguarding procedures are strictly followed
- To support, facilitate and implement the preparation and completion of activities based around The Early Years Foundation Stage to support every individual child's learning and development
- To organise the room's lunch time and ensure ratios are always maintained.
- Ensuring lunch times are a time of pleasant and social sharing and interaction
- Promoting the highest standard of hygiene for children, ensuring good regular handwashing procedures are in place
- Washing and changing children as required
- Ensuring any child who is poorly is kept calm, warm and supported and the Nursery procedure for 'Sick Children' is implemented
- To develop and maintain strong relationships with parents and carers to facilitate a high standard of care both at home and within the nursery setting
- Enabling and adapting all environments to ensure care is facilitated for children who may have disabilities or any other additional needs
Pay:
£8.75-£13.00 per hour
